If you’re looking for pieces you won’t find in everyone else’s wardrobe, the “Mädelsflohmarkt” (girls’ flea market) is for you. At the stalls you’ll find a mix of vintage pieces, brand-name items and handmade one-of-a-kind creations. Men can’t sell here themselves, but they’re of course very welcome as visitors.

Entry is €5 – and for that you get not only loads of stalls, but also a selection of food and drinks plus a great atmosphere on top. No need to worry about the weather, either, because browsing takes place indoors. But there is also an outdoor area to explore.

The next girls’ flea markets at Pattenhalle in Ehrenfeld (Christianstraße 82, 50825) will take place on May 28, June 6, July 27 and August 15. The market is also held at the AbenteuerHallen in Cologne-Kalk (Christian-Sünner-Straße 8, 51103), namely on May 9 and June 20 – at both locations from 11 am to 4 pm. Tickets are available via the Maedelsflohmarkt website or simply at the door.

Flea markets open ’til dark: Moonlight Market & Bazar de Nuit

The Moonlight Market is a new flea market in Cologne.

In May, the Moonlight Market celebrated its premiere in Cologne – and it’s much more than a regular flea market. You can pick up your next favorite piece here, along with decor, ceramics and prints from small labels. And that’s not all. Street food, drinks, live music from bands and emerging artists, plus special activities, turn the Moonlight Market into the perfect mix of flea market and party.

The next Moonlight Market will take place on July 18, from 5 pm to 11 pm, at Pattenhalle in Ehrenfeld (Christianstraße 82, 50825). If you can’t make it or simply want more, you can visit the night market on August 29, October 17 or November 21. Tickets are available via the Moonlight Market online shop for €5.

The next Bazar de Nuit in Cologne takes place in August.

You can also enjoy a relaxed evening browsing at the Bazar de Nuit. Besides more than 60 stalls and strings of fairy lights, there’s a dedicated music line-up with DJs, bands and more. Bands from Cologne such as Jean Baker and Flora Chroma performed here last year.

But it’s not just about shopping – you’re also supporting a good cause. Each time, a different social project receives funding. Last season, for instance, a charity helping people experiencing homelessness and an open art workshop in Cologne were supported. The money comes from auctions held during the markets.

The Bazar de Nuit takes place at Odonien (Hornstraße 85, 50823). Upcoming dates are August 2 and September 13. Tickets are available online via the Bazar de Nuit website – either as a day ticket for €8 (3 pm to 10 pm) or for €5 for a time slot of around 3 to 4 hours.

This way, you also discover hidden courtyards and corners of Cologne you might never have seen otherwise.

Dates are scheduled in various neighborhoods through the end of September. Here’s what May looks like:

  • May 16 in Junkersdorf & Müngersdorf
  • May 17 in Ossendorf
  • May 23 in Flittard & Stammheim
  • May 30 in Rath
  • May 31 in Holweide

The markets are always open for everyone from 10 or 11 am until 4 pm. You’ll find all further dates and neighborhoods on the Hofflohmärkte website.
